Thistle Lodge Specialist Care Ltd is based within a modern building in the heart of the community and developed to support the vision of independent living with single apartments that have been designed to provide high – quality nursing care for adults aged 18 and over who have a diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, who may also present with complex needs. The service has been carefully developed to promote a safe environment, creating independence, respecting privacy and dignity while ensuring accessibility and comfort for all individuals.

Our service is underpinned by evidence-based approaches designed to support people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. We use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and individual Autism Profiles to understand each person’s strengths, communication needs, and sensory preferences which underpin care plans.

We focus on promoting independence and enable people to develop practical and social integration skills that enhance their daily lives. This includes supporting individuals to manage their own health, make informed choices, and participate fully in their local community. We support people to actively be involved in planning their daily routines, meals and activities, ensuring that they have genuine choice and control in their daily lives.

The service is led by a Registered Manager and supported by a multidisciplinary team of trained staff, including Registered Nurses, Support Workers, and Team Leaders, with experience in Learning Disability, Autism, and complex care needs. Nursing staff are registered with the NMC and adhere to professional standards, ensuring clinical oversight, risk management, and effective liaison with external healthcare professionals.
